KUALA LUMPUR: Action comedy Polis Evo 3 collected a whopping RM3.4 million after its sneak preview on Wednesday.
It even doubled the amount of Hollywood action film, Fast X, which premiered last week.
This has placed the much-awaited buddy cop adventure co-produced by Astro Shaw, Skop Productions and TGV Pictures at Number One in the list of GSC Malaysia's Top 10 box office openings.
Polis Evo 3 which stars Shaheizy Sam, Zizan Razak and Sharnaaz Ahmad and is directed by Syafiq Yusof opened in cinemas yesterday.
The film's executive producer Raja Jastina Raja Arshad said in a statement yesterday that the public's strong support of its sneak preview was a "great start" and a sign that its box office collections would only get better.
"We would like to thank all fans of the Polis Evo films from Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei for this great news, as well as our co-producers, our solid ensemble cast and everyone who helped make Polis Evo 3 a reality," she said.
She added that the Polis Evo 3 cast and crew were currently on a nationwide roadshow and would be meeting fans in Terengganu and Pahang from today until Sunday, Seremban on June 2, Kedah, Penang and Perak (June 3 to 5), and Singapore, Johor and Melaka (June 8 to 11).
The new film marks the final big screen adventure of the fearless crime-fighters Inspectors Khai and Sani. This time they confront a madman Reza who threatens to set off bombs in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, and who used to be Khai's partner prior to his team-up with Sani.
