KUALA LUMPUR: Police action comedy Polis Evo 3 has created a new franchise record by collecting RM41.3 million within 12 days of screening.
The third instalment in the franchise has beat its predecessors, Polis Evo 2 (2018) which garnered RM23 million within 44 days and Polis Evo (2015) which garnered RM18 million.
Producer Astro Shaw announced on Twitter yesterday that Polis Evo 3 was still topping the charts as the No.1 film in TGV Cinemas but has dropped to No.2 in GSC Cinemas' Top 10 films.
The film helmed by director Syafiq Yusof is just a few million ringgit shy of catching up with his elder brother Syamsul Yusof's Mat Kilau (2022) which collected RM47 million within 11 days.
Polis Evo 3 sees the return of Inspektor Sani (Zizan Razak) and Inspektor Khai (Shaheizy Sam) as they embark on a new mission to nab a deadly terrorist.
However, the master criminal turns out to be Reza who was Khai's former partner, and he becomes reluctant to take down his old friend.
The film also stars Sharnaaz Ahmad, Nora Danish, Syafiq Kyle, Douglas Lim, Farali Khan, Fauzi Nawawi, Fezrul Khan, Ezzaty Abdullah and Datuk Afdlin Shauki.
