#SHOWBIZ: 'Blues Brothers' actress Dalyce Curry dies at 95 in LA fire

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran American actress Dalyce Curry, known for her roles in The Blues Brothers, The Ten Commandments, and Lady Sings the Blues, has died at 95 in the Eaton Fire in Altadena, California.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed Curry's remains were found at her burned-down home on Sunday evening, ABC7 Los Angeles reported.

The Eaton Fire, which began on Jan 7, has devastated the area, leaving a trail of destruction.

According to The New York Post, Curry, affectionately called "Momma D" by her family, was last seen on Tuesday when her granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, dropped her off at home after a long day at the hospital. Exhausted, Curry went to rest, unaware of the fire that would spread rapidly in the hours to come.

Kelley, who served as Curry's part-time caregiver, received an alert about a power outage at her grandmother's house later that night and rushed to check on her.

By the time she arrived, the neighborhood was engulfed in flames and cordoned off by authorities.

"I'm sorry your grandmother's property is gone," an officer informed Kelley.

She was directed to the Pasadena Civic Center, where displaced residents were gathering, but Momma D was not among them.

Days later, the National Guard escorted Kelley to the remains of Curry's home.

"It was total devastation. Everything was gone except her blue Cadillac," Kelley told ABC7.

On Sunday, she received confirmation of her grandmother's death.

Curry appeared in iconic films throughout her decades-long career.

"She was very active; you wouldn't think she was 95," said her granddaughter Loree Beamer-Wilkinson.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Kelley honored Curry's memory. "She impacted my life in so many ways. This loss is devastating."

The Eaton Fire is part of a series of blazes that have claimed at least 24 lives, displaced nearly 200,000 residents, and scorched 39,000 acres.
