2022 Toyota Camry launches from RM199K

KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota Motor's new 2022 Toyota Camry is priced from RM199,109.50, with 50 per cent Sales & Service Tax, or SST, exemption and without insurance).

Underpinned by the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, the single available variant is powered by a 2.5 Dynamic Force Engine coupled with the Direct Shift 8-speed Automatic Transmission (AT) that delivers 209 PS and 253Nm with a fuel economy of 6.8L/100km and 40pct thermal efficiency.

That's an additional 25 PS and 18 Nm with 8pct improved fuel efficiency over the previous Camry.

It comes equipped with a paddle shifter and three drive modes – ECO, Normal and Sport.

The body is said to have increased chassis stiffness and lower centre of gravity for improved handling, lower hood cowls for better visibility with higher stability control.

On the exterior are Bi-LED Projector with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and newly designed 18-inch alloy rims. Its automatic headlamps come with the Follow-Me-Home function.

Safety features include Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) with Pre-Collision System (PCS) and increased recognition capabilities that can also detect pedestrians and cyclists, All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Keeping System and Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), as well as Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Auto Brake (RCTAB), new Intelligent Clearance Sonar (ICS) and Panoramic View Monitor (PVM).

In the cabin is a combination of new black engineered wood ornamentation finishing, a 9-inch display Audio that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Ready capabilities, and nine JBL speakers including a subwoofer.

A first in the Camry segment is that rear passengers can recline their seats, adjust the rear tri-zone air-conditioning system and sun-shade, as well as control the audio system with the control panel within the centre armrest.

It is available in five colours – Graphite Metallic, Silver Metallic, Red Mica, and its signature colours Platinum White Pearl and Burning Black – which will cost an additional RM800.

The car also comes with a comprehensive 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage.
