All-electric Macan launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Porsche Malaysia recently launched the new all-electric Porsche Macan, with prices starting from RM430,000 for the single-motor variant.

Since its global premiere, the new Macan has garnered significant attention for its progressive, timeless design, characteristic Porsche performance, long-distance range and with real everyday usability.

The first all-electric SUV from Porsche aims to completely fulfil the requirements of its customers who wish to drive an SUV.

Sime Darby Auto Performance chief executive officer Christopher Hunter said the Macan has been a popular model since its debut.

"Customer response has been overwhelmingly positive, with strong demand.

"The Macan is now also available for test drives at all Porsche Centres, and we can't wait to see this outstanding electric SUV cruising on the roads across Malaysia," he said.

Porsche Asia Pacific head of region Remmy Ng said 2024 has been a milestone year for the brand.

He added that Malaysia plays a key role in the Southeast Asian region, with highlights including the export of the first locally-assembled Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupé to Thailand and opening of a new charging hub in Genting Highlands in partnership with Shell.

"Now, we round up the year with another spectacular model launch for the new and all-electric Macan, supporting Malaysia's growing enthusiasm for electric mobility with a compelling SUV offer," he said.

The new Macan features an 800V architecture.

All variants of the new Macan are built on the brand's new premium platform electric, featuring 800-volt architecture and a high-voltage lithium-ion battery in the underbody with a gross capacity of 100 kilowatt-hour.

It is available in four models: Macan, Macan 4, Macan 4S and Macan Turbo.

The Macan boasts sporty proportions with sleek, coupé-like lines, offering two luggage compartments and increased interior space for enhanced comfort.

The driver experience is elevated with high computing power and advanced connectivity.

The Macan is also the first to include rear-axle steering and two-valve dampers for improved handling and performance.
