POKOK SENA: A total of 20 remains, believed to be those of Rohingyas, were laid to rest at the Kampung Tualang cemetery here this afternoon.
The fifth batch of remains comprised 14 men, two women, and four other unidentified bodies, said Kedah Islamic Religious Department director Zahari Ismail.
"This brings the total number of remains buried at the cemetery in Kampung Tualang to 119," he said when contacted today.
The entire process of digging and burying the remains took about two hours.
At least 20 more graves, believed to be of those human trafficking victims, were reportedly found at an illegal detention camp at the Wang Burma hill near Wang Kelian here last month.
The graves are located about 5km from the previous abandoned detention camps and graves which was discovered previously.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar on May 25 had announced the discovery of 28 illegal camps and 139 graves believed to be of those human trafficking victims at the peak of the hill, near the Malaysia-Thailand border in Wang Kelian here under Ops Wawasan.
A total of 35 bodies were found in the graves in the location while a remaining 91 bodies were found in another location known as Grave 24 at Bukit Wang Perah here.
The discovery of the illegal camps and graves, believed to be the transit for human trafficking activity, was following the discovery of camps and graves in Thailand, which also revealed 26 bodies believed to be those of human trafficking victims.
