Khalid Samad hopes Khalid Ibrahim will remain as part of Pakatan Rakyat

GOMBAK: Pas central committee member Khalid Samad hopes that embattled Selangor menteri besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim will remain as part of Pakatan Rakyat despite his sacking from PKR on Saturday.

Khalid said Abdul Khalid still had two weeks to appeal the decision, and hoped that the MB would use the opportunity to reply the allegations made against him.

"If possible, we would like Abdul Khalid to remain with us in Pakatan, and as part of PKR," Khalid Samad told reporters at the Pas Hari Raya open house here.

Pas leaders have been supportive of Abdul Khalid's bid to remain as Selangor MB, despite pressure from their partners in Pakatan for him to step down.

Despite their support, Pas Selangor chief Iskandar Abdul Samad said the party's members in the state executive council were unlikely to resign from their posts, following Abdul Khalid's sacking.

"It won't come to that, because it would not be fair to the people.

"Business will continue as usual in the government."

Iskandar said it was unlikely for Abdul Khalid to join Pas, although Pas deputy president Mohamad Sabu later said the party was willing to consider the possibility.

"Pas is always open to welcome anyone into the party."
