MIRI, June 1 (Bernama) – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak started his two-day visit to Sarawak today with a courtesy call on Sarawak Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, here, this evening.
This was Najib’s first courtesy call on Taib since the latter was appointed as the seventh Sarawak Yang Dipertua Negeri on March 1.
Najib who is in Sarawak for a two-day visit in conjunction with the state’s Gawai Dayak celebration, arrived at the Marriot Resort and Spa at 8pm, accompanied by Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
Tomorrow, the prime minister is expected to attend a Gawai celebration with the Kenyah community in Long Silat, about seven hours’ journey by road from here, before attending another one at Rumah Jarek Anak Klambu, an Iban longhouse, located about 20 km from here.
Najib is scheduled to leave for Kuala Lumpur later in the evening after attending the Malaysia Gawai Dayak Open House 2014 at Dataran Kipas, here.
