Man killed by falling branch while pruning tree branches at house compound

KANGAR: A man was killed when a branch fell on him as he was conducting pruning works on a fig tree at a bungalow in Kampung Telok Jambu here today.

R. Alagesan, 32, was pruning the branches when a branch fell on him from above, leaving him unconscious.

He then slumped over while still in a sitting position in the tree, and his body became entangled in the branches.

Another worker, who was also doing pruning works at the house compound, saw Alagesan unconscious and immediately alerted the Fire and Rescue Department.

It took firemen about five minutes to bring the victim down from the tree using ropes and a ladder.

However, by the time Alagesan was brought down, he was already dead.

A police spokesman confirmed the incident and said the body has been sent to the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital to determine the cause of death.
