SEREMBAN: More than 100,000 bus users in the state have been affected with the temporary disruption of MyBAS services since Nov 1.
This is due to the temporary closure of the natural gas vehicle (NGV) services at 67 Petronas petrol stations in the Klang Valley, Negri Sembilan and Johor.
Seremban MyBAS operation manager Selamat Khamsan said only 60 MyBas NGV buses were still in operation, while the remaining 58 buses had been stalled operation.
“Out of (the) 27 routes offered by MyBAS services, 13 had to be suspended, while the frequency of services on 14 other routes had to be reduced.
“The suspended routes had the least passengers, recording only one to 700 passengers a day. Based on that, we decided to stop the services along those routes for the time being,” he said.
“For the 14 other routes which have recorded a higher number of passengers, around 3,000 to 21,000 people a day, we have reduced the travelling frequency of the bus services from 30 minutes to one hour,” he said.
Selamat added that all MyBAS buses had to make their way to Petronas stations in Sepang and Bandar Rincing, Semenyih, following the cessation of NGV services in Seremban 2.
He said the company had to suffer huge losses, which include revenue loss, higher cost of NGV refilling and even dealing with penalties from the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) due to the temporary disruption and reduction of MyBAS travelling frequency.
