Subang Airport to remain Malindo's growth focus

KUALA LUMPUR: Malindo Airways Sdn Bhd, the joint-venture airline between Malaysia and Indonesia, is confident of growth, particularly at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang this year.

Its chief executive officer Chandran Rama Muthy said Subang Airport would remain Malindo Air’s focus as it was expecting a 25 per cent increase to 1.7 million in the number of passengers carried this year with the delivery of two additional aircraft.

“Malindo Air’s outlook continues to flourish from its city hub at Subang Airport with the encouraging growth up to 3.5 million passengers, coupled with the average 75 per cent load factor since its inception at Subang in May 2013,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The airline, which recently won the Centre of Aviation 2016 Asia Pacific Regional Airline of the Year award, also plans to extend its Smarter Shuttle service to more destinations.

The service offers the flexibility to change their flight departure to an earlier or later flight on the same day of departure at no charge.

Malindo Air had recently introduced the Smarter Shuttle service between Subang and Penang and Johor Baru.

Currently, the service is extended to flights between Subang and Alor Star, Terengganu and Kota Baru for free.

“This would be a huge advantage to both leisure and business travellers alike, especially for local destinations, where they would be able to hop onto the available flight of their preference,” said Chandran.

Malindo Air had also introduced the Malindo Golden Senior Fare to celebrate its rapid growth.

The new fare offers 20 per cent discount on base fare to senior citizens aged 60 years old and above.

The purchases of the fare can be made at airport ticketing offices and authorised Malindo Air sales outlets.
