PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained the chief executive officer and the advisor of a supply company for allegedly bribing a ministry official.
According to MACC sources, the 49-year-old female CEO with a Datuk Seri title was arrested at 5.30pm at the MACC headquarters here, while the 55-year-old advisor with a Datuk title was arrested at 11.30am at Dutamas Raya, Kuala Lumpur.
Initial investigations revealed that both individuals have abetted to bribe the ministry's enforcement officer as a reward for not taking action against the company for carrying out deposit collecting activities for a bogus investment in July 2017.
Meanwhile, MACC Investigation director Datuk Seri Simi Abd Ghani when contacted confirmed the arrest.
He said investigation were carried out under section 17(b) of the MACC Act 209.
"The commission will also obtain a remand order for both suspects at the Putrajaya Magistrate Court tomorrow," he added.
