Tamrin questioned for 3 hours over article about TMJ

KUALA LUMPUR: Former MP, Datuk Tamrin Abdul Ghafar had his statement recorded today over an article allegedly criticising a member of the Johor royal family.

He arrived at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman at 11am accompanied by his lawyer, Mohd Azharul Ab Talib.

Tamrin, who is the eldest son of former deputy prime minister Tun Abdul Ghafar Baba, said police questioned him over an article posted on his blog, entitled "TMJ - Bodoh Sombong Yang Tak Boleh Diajar".

"I was called up after a police report was made at Majidae, Johor, over a Facebook post.

"I don't have any social media account, the uploader had copied my blog article and posted it on Facebook," he told reporters after the three-hour questioning.

He said the police were professional when taking his statement and had asked about the 34 points that were penned in the blog post.

He said he was prepared to go to court over the matter to defend himself.

Meanwhile, Federal Criminal Investigations Department deputy director (Intelligence/Operations) Datuk Mohd Roze Shaari when contacted said Tamrin gave his full cooperation during the session.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.
