KOTA BARU: Thai police have distributed pictures of two men suspected of murdering a father and son to all 19 stations in the southern provinces, including those bordering Malaysia.
The suspects, identified as Abdullah Samok, 30, and Abdullah Bulat, 40, are believed to have fled to Malaysia.
Narathiwat district police chief Colonel Pratya Baite said the suspects' pictures were distributed to police stations soon after authorities were informed about the attack on the two Thai policemen.
He added that four of the 19 police stations bordering Malaysia are in Tak Bai, Sungai Golok, Waeng, and Buketa.
"All four police stations are in Narathiwat province and are situated along the Kelantan-Thai border," he told the New Straits Times.
It is learnt that besides Narathiwat province, the two pictures were also distributed to other provinces in Thailand, including Pattani and Songkhla.
On Jan 27, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said
police had intensified surveillance along the rugged border with Thailand after the two individuals were believed to have fled into Malaysia.
He said police personnel along the borders would not stop looking for the suspects and efforts were being made to identify if and how the suspects fled to Malaysia.
In the Jan 14 deadly attack, the victims, Lieutenant Colonel Suwit Chuaythewarit, 56, and his son, Senior Sergeant Major Dome Chuaythewarit, 35, were killed in an ambush.
Thai police believe that both suspects fled shortly after the bomb attack to Malaysia or are hiding in the jungles along the border.
NST previously reported that police in the four states bordering Thailand have been put on high alert for two men allegedly involved in the killing of a police officer and his son in Narathiwat province.
