Johor cops honoured for rejecting bribes

KUALA LUMPUR: Ten Johor policemen who refused bribes while on duty were recognised for their integrity, receiving appreciation letters from Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain today.

In a Facebook post, the police said the policemen — five from the state's Tactical Headquarters, Marine Police Force (PPM) Region Two, and Mersing, and another five from the Segamat district headquarters — were honoured at a ceremony at Bukit Aman for upholding the law in January.

Among them was Inspector Rosli Mohd Saad from Mersing, who led a team that rejected a bribe during an operation to seize illegal fireworks in Johor on Jan 21.

Another group, led by Sergeant Roshazizat Idris from Segamat, refused a bribe from a suspect with a criminal record on Jan 24.

Also recognised were Corporal Mohammad Hafizi Idris, Lance Corporal Shafrizal Jasi, Lance Corporal Mohd Saiden Abdul Lemin, Lance Corporal Muhammad Syahir Safwan Abdul Jamil, Corporal Azhar Omar, Corporal Muhammad Muizzuddin Roslan, Lance Corporal Mohd Safuan Kaderi, and Lance Corporal Muhammad Faiz Abdul Kadir.

"May this certificate of appreciation serve as motivation and encouragement for all members of the force to continue delivering the highest quality of service to the community," the police said.

Razarudin spent an hour with the policemen before presenting them with special certificates of appreciation and commemorative souvenirs.

Present were state police chief Datuk M. Kumar S. Muthuvelu, federal police secretary Datuk Kamaruzaman Abdullah, marine police commander Senior Assistant Commissioner Shamsol Kassim and Segamat police chief Superintendent Ahmad Zamry Marinsah.
