KUALA LANGAT: A man who was caught on video slapping his wife at a shopping mall in Kota Warisan, Sepang, causing the incident to go viral on social media, has been remanded for three days starting today (Feb 02).
The remand order was issued by magistrate Maslinda Selamat under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act 1994.
Earlier, the suspect was brought to the Telok Datuk magistrate's court here at 8.30am, wearing an orange lock-up outfit.
It was reported yesterday that the man was arrested outside a clinic in Kota Warisan at around 10am.
In the 29-second video of the incident, said to have taken place at a mall in Kota Warisan, the woman can be seen leaving the complex before a man, holding a child's hand, walks towards her. He then slaps her in public before scolding her. The woman is then seen leaving the premises.
Sepang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman had said that the police received a report from the woman's sibling regarding the incident.
