KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi has urged Malaysia Airport Holding Berhad (MAHB) to clarify if Malindo Air had paid its airport tax this year amounting to RM70 million.
“If this is true (that the airline has yet to pay), why is Malindo been given special treatment?
“I understand that Malindo Air is owned and controlled by foreigners. Hence, we also want know how many per cent of the shares are owned and controlled by bumiputras?
“If it is a foreign entity, how can it be given special treatment to owe such an amount in airport tax?” he said in a statement today.
Puad urged the Transport Ministry to also explain the situation and take necessary action against the airline.
Malindo Air operates from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (also known as the Subang Airport) in Subang, Selangor.
