KUALA LUMPUR: The Indian and Indian Muslim business community in this country should create and expand their business networking globally, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Speaking to the audience during the 2nd Golden Dinar Awards organised by the Malaysian Indian Muslim Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MIMCOIN) tonight, he said, the move would not only be good for the community’s image globally but also push and promote the brand of Malaysia as a whole.
“I would like to urge MIMCOIN members, especially those deeply involved with businesses, to create the Malaysia brand abroad, to promote Malaysia abroad, to have international networking.
“..and I believe if this kind of networking is strengthened, it would not only be good for the Indians and the Indian Muslims, but for Malaysia as a whole,” Ahmad Zahid said while delivering his keynote address during the dinner tonight.
The dinner, and the award ceremony was initiated by MIMCOIN to provide an ideal environment for corporate leaders to mingle and share their experiences while providing invaluable insights on particular aspects of the business world.
Speaking further, Ahmad Zahid, who is also Barisan Nasional deputy chairman, said the Federal Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was always committed to looking after the welfare and prosperity of the Indian community and the Indian Muslims in the country.
“During the PRU (2013 General Election) previously, there was a little problem (in terms of support) from the Indian community… but the Prime Minister did not neglect them, in fact a special scheme was provided to assist them not only in the field of education, but also the economy and entrepreneurship.
“This shows a clear commitment from the Malaysian government for efforts to look after the well-being of the Indian community, including the Indian Muslims in this country,” he added.
In this regard, Ahmad Zahid said he hoped the Indian community and the Indian Muslims would continue to have confidence and express their undivided support for the current Federal Government leadership. — BERNAMA
