KUALA LUMPUR: Three students who survived the blaze at Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah tahfiz school in Kampung Datuk Keramat here have been discharged from Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) last night.
This, HKL director Datuk Dr Zaininah Mohd Zain said, comes after their conditions have stabilised.
She said three more boys are currently being warded at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for burns while another is being treated at the paediatric ICU.
"The three boys in the ICU suffered 20 to 30 per cent burns on their bodies and we are treating them.
"It may take a week for them to recover and no visitors are allowed to visit them to avoid infection.
"The three boys who are allowed to leave the hospital however, will still be required to undergo follow up treatments," she told reporters when met at the hospital main lobby today.
Meanwhile, Zaininah added that the boy who was warded at the paediatric ICU was still traumatised by the incident and is being closely monitored.
It was reported that 21 students and two teachers died in the 5am incident on Thursday.
City police chief Datuk Amar Singh was quoted as saying that the fire department rescued 14 students while four teachers managed to escape the blaze.
