JDT promises to assist Penang flood victims

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) football club and its players have pledged to give financial aid to victims of the Penang floods.

The club's president Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Ibrahim said the assistance was in line with the JDT's policy of helping those in need.

She said it was not the first time that JDT channeled aid to victims of disasters as it had done the same during previous cases around the country.

She said JDT's owner Tunku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim had decreed for the club to continue helping people who were affected by disasters.

"As decreed by the Crown Prince of Johor, among the policies of Johor Darul Ta'zim FC is to provide assistance and aid to the needy, including to the flood victims in Pahang and Kelantan, and earthquake victims in Sabah.

"We have provided aid to state governments over the years and JDT will continue to do the same.

"JDT FC and its players have decided to give our Malaysia Cup prize money to the flood victims in Penang," said Tunku Tun Aminah, referring to an incentive that the state government is giving to JDT for their Malaysia Cup victory.

She said this in a statement uploaded on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page at about 4.30pm today.

JDT won the Malaysia Cup for the first time with a 2-0 win over Kedah in the final at Shah Alam Stadium on Saturday.
