Political leaders' signatures no longer required for Tekun loan applications

SERDANG: Applicants for the National Entrepreneur Group Economic Fund (Tekun Nasional) loan are no longer required to get a signature from the leader of a political party, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Salahuddin Ayub said.

Salahuddin said the decision to do away with the requirement was made to reduce bureaucracy and political interference in the loan approval process; and to allow Tekun Nasional to continue to progress and provide good services to the people.

"Previously, the loan approval process required a 'recommendation' from political leaders.

"(However) the most appropriate loan approval mechanism is through village heads who will determine the eligibility of an applicant," Salahuddin added. — BERNAMA
