MELAKA: The Melaka government has never set a condition that civil servants, including Sekolah Rendah Agama Rakyat (SRA) teachers under the State Islamic Religious Department, should join any Pakatan Harapan (PH) political party to avoid service termination.
Chief Minister, Adly Zahari in refuting the claim made by certain quarters, said the PH-led state government practised democracy in its administration and public servants had the right to join any political party in this country.
He said the evaluation on their achievement or performance was not based on their political background but on the conditions already established including the Annual Performance Assessment Report.
“We under PH have never assessed the performance of public servants in this state based on their political inclinations but on their work performance, integrity and so on.
“So, the claim made is baseless and ill-intentioned against the state government….it needs to be corrected,” he told reporters after the Meet-the-People Day programme, here, today.
He was asked to comment on the recent allegation via Facebook, using the name of an opposition party wing in the state, which said SRA teachers were forced to quit their post in Umno or declare to leave the party, and join a PH party if they wished to continue to serve.
At today’s programme, 66 complaints involving various issues including land, welfare and support letters for citizenship and employment were received.
Adly said the state government would continue providing correct information in the fight against the spread of fake news aimed at tarnishing the image of Melaka PH.
In another development, Adly who is also Melaka United Soccer Association, reminded the club’s management to ensure that import players joining Melaka United next season should be free of injuries.
He said there should be careful selection to avoid the club’s management facing technical problem or difficulty in drawing up strategies for the next season.
“Hiring import players would involve a big allocation and injuries suffered by these players will affect the club’s performance and the investments made,” he added. – BERNAMA
