SEREMBAN: The presence of Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at the Rantau by-election nomination centre, here, today, saw many supporters and party leaders drawn to him.
Clad in the trade mark blue Barisan Nasional (BN) shirt, the Bagan Datuk Member of Parliament, who has taken a leave of absence from Umno, was in a jovial mood and was seen greeting and talking to several Umno leaders as well as supporters.
Ahmad Zahid said, he decided to come to the nomination centre to fulfill a promise he made to his deputy, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (Tok Mat).
Tok Mat will will contest in the Rantau state seat by-election.

"I have made the promise to him, so I am here today to support him.
“He has done a lot for the development of Negri Sembilan and I don't see any reason why voters here won't support him," he said.
On whether his presence today is a signal of his comeback to the party, Ahmad Zahid brushed off the speculation and said he has no plans on the matter so far.
"I leave it to Allah," he said, briefly.
Ahmad Zahid added that he was looking forward to joining the campaign rounds in Rantau.
This however, would depend on his schedule, he said.
"It depends. If my presence is needed, I will be there. But if otherwise, I will still provide my support from afar," he said.
