KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested the driver of a Mercedes Benz who rammed into a car along Jalan Persiaran Senawang 1, near the Salam Paroi Hospital near Seremban, before speeding off.
A video of the incident has since gone viral with netizens expressing outrage and calling on other motorists to locate the culprit.
The 23-second video starts with a black Mercedes Benz and a white Perodua Alza travelling in the left lane.
Seconds later, the Mercedes swerves into the middle lane and overtakes the Alza before ramming into its side.
Due to the impact, the Alza skids off the road and the Mercedes is seen speeding away.
A camera mounted on another vehicle which was travelling behind the two cars captured the entire incident.
The video recording has been circulated with various groups calling for people to locate the Mercedes Benz, complete with its registration number provided.
Police arrested the Mercedes Benz’ driver when she lodged a report this morning.
Seremban district deputy police chief Superintendent Mohd Rosli Ishak said the incident happened about 3pm on Sunday.
He said initial investigations showed that the Alza was driven by a 35-year-old with three passengers onboard.
“They were heading to Kuala Pilah from Senawang when the Mercedes Benz rammed into them.
“The Mercedes was driven by a 25-year-old female who was arrested when she came to lodge a report this morning,” he said, adding that two passengers in the Alza sustained light injuries in the incident, while the driver and third passenger were unhurt.
He said both drivers had lodged reports at the Seremban 2 police station and the case was being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
