Vehicle catches fire on NSE, causes 5km traffic crawl

RAWANG: A vehicle caught fire at KM44 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) near the Rawang south-bound exit this morning, causing a 5km traffic crawl.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department deputy director (operation) Hafisham Mohd Noor said they received an emergency call over the incident at 11.33am.

“Eight personnel with one engine from Rawang Fire and Rescue station were deployed to the scene.

“Upon arrival, they found a Mercedes car engulfed in flames, and the team managed to control the fire a few minutes later,” he said in a statement today, adding that the car was 80 per cent damaged in the fire.

“Fortunately, there was no injury reported.”

Meanwhile, Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) via its Twitter informed the public of a left lane closure and slow traffic for 5km due to the incident.
