KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Latheefa Koya has completed recording her statement to the police to assist in investigations into the revelation of nine recordings released last week.
In a short statement, the anti-graft agency said deputy commissioner Datuk Seri Azam Baki and five other officers also gave their statements separately, between 2.45pm and 6.30pm today.
“The police investigation team was led by Superintendent Mohd Fazley Ab Rahman from the Special Crime Investigation Unit, Bukit Aman,” it added.
Earlier, police were seen arriving in black Proton Preve cars at the MACC office in Putrajaya at 2.30pm.
Last Wednesday, the MACC released nine audio recordings and mentioned 19 names, including former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, for alleged involvement in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal.
Latheefa had described the contents of the recording as indicative of “a criminal conspiracy at the highest level”, and said the conversations were made public so that there would not be any attempt to undermine independent bodies.
