Man recovering after arrow horror

SARIKEI: A man had to endure two hours of pain when an arrow pierced his left hand at Sungai Pakan yesterday.

Daro Fire and Rescue Department chief Mahmudin Narudin said the 54-year-old was believed to have been bow fishing in the area when he slipped, causing the arrow to shoot into his hand.

According to him, the victim sought the help of villagers who rushed him to Sarikei Hospital.

"We received a call at 2.23pm from the hospital’s emergency unit for help to remove the arrow.

"Our staff had to use an iron cutter. We had to be careful to avoid further injury to the victim's hands. The arrow was successfully removed within half an hour," he said when contacted today.

Mahmudin added that the victim was referred back to the hospital authorities for further treatment.
