Covid-19: PM to go live on TV at 1pm

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will deliver a special address on a live telecast at 1pm.

It will be broadcasted on Astro Awani, Bernama, RTM and TV3.

Malaysia has been placed under 14-day movement control order (MCO) from March 18 as a preventive measure to contain the spread of Covid-19 infection.

The MCO, among others, covers general prohibition of mass movements and gatherings nationwide, travel ban on Malaysians as well as restrictions on tourists entering the country.

During the period, all government and private premises (except essential services), as well as kindergartens, schools, universities, are closed.

A total of 106 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing to total of 1,624 infections in Malaysia, with death toll rose to 16.

The new coronavirus disease has claimed 18,907 lives globally, with 422,829 cases as of 11.22am (source: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/).

Medical teams worldwide are struggling to cope with the rising number of patients, while governments have started imposing lockdown to break the chain of infections.
