KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) will hold a special "Wilayah Persekutuan Bermunajat" programme for five days beginning tonight.
The "munajat", or supplication (special prayers in the form of zikir), is to pray to Allah to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Jointly organised with the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) and the Federal Territories Mufti Office, the programme starting tonight will continue on April 4, 7, 9 and 13.
In a statement today, Jawi said the programme is at 7.50pm after Maghrib prayers at all mosques, surau and homes of Muslims in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
"The method of its implementation is that the imam of mosques, surau and surau that can hold Friday prayers will read a prayer and zikir text prepared by the Federal Territories Mufti Office using the loud speaker in a clear voice.
"This initiative is to urge Muslims, specifically in the Federal Territories to supplicate and pray to Allah to curb the spread of Covid-19 and for Malaysia to always be under His protection and grace," Jawi said.
