PETRA JAYA: Sarawak allows two people in one vehicle to travel to work at their paddy field during the Movement Control Order (MCO).
Sarawak became the first state to permit two people in a vehicle after the decision was made during the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) meeting yesterday.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas who is also the chairman of the JPBN, said the permission will enable paddy farmers to harvest their crops.
"Usually, the paddy farmers are a pair of husband and wife, both of them will need to work on harvesting the crops together.
“That is why the JPBN has reached a decision to allow two people in a vehicle to go to work at the paddy fields," he told a press conference yesterday.
Meanwhile, Amar said only selected telecommunications customer service centres such as Celcom, Digi, Maxis and U Mobile and their verified representative premises were allowed to operate during the period of the MCO.
He said the decision was made and agreed by the Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) previously.
"The measures will support the needs of consumer communications services such as the need for SIM card exchanges, billing issues and network issues," he said.
