More than enough food supply in the country

KUALA LUMPUR: There is more than enough supply of food in the country despite the Movement Control Order (MCO), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob assured the people today.

The Senior Minister (Security Cluster) said the public need not worry, as the government had guaranteed enough supply of such necessities.

“Overall, the supply of necessities is enough to meet the current demand.

“The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP), together with the Agriculture Ministry continues to monitor the daily food supply, especially rice and other needs in the whole country.

“The current stock of locally produced and imported rice is stable, controlled and sufficient to meet continued demand in the country. In fact, it is more than enough,” he said at his daily press conference today.

The Defence Minister said the Agriculture Ministry had also guaranteed that fresh produce, such as vegetables, were also enough.

He added that KPDNHEP authorities conduct daily checks on 25 types of supplies at 1,203 business premises including retailers (925), wholesalers (247) and manufacturers (31).
