Noh Omar returns to head Selangor Umno

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Housing and Local Government Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar has returned to head Selangor Umno.

His appointment as the state liaison chief which took effect from Tuesday, sees him replacing Datuk Mat Nadzari Ahmad Dahlan.

The appointment of the six-term Tanjung Karang Member of Parliament was announced in statement by Selangor Umno via their Facebook account.

The statement also announced the appointment of Gombak Umno Chief, Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin as the deputy state Umno chief.

“Congratulations to Tan Sri Noh Omar for returning to head the leadership of Selangor Umno.

"We would like to thank Datuk Mat Nadzari Ahmad Dahalan for his service and leadership in leading Selangor Umno," the statement said.

Noh who is also the Umno Supreme Council member and the Tanjung Karang Umno Division chief was a former Selangor Umno chief.

He was appointed in 2013, however, he stepped down June 30, 2018.

Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was then appointed as the state chief, before he stepped down on April 1, 2019.

Then Selangor Umno deputy chairman Mat Nadzari, was then appointed to fill the vacancy as the head the state’s liaison committee on July 5, 2019.
