IPOH: Every Ramadan, Masjid India Muslim here is synonymous with its popular bubur lambuk.
Known to prepare the best bubur lambuk in town, the mosque has kept its 100-year tradition of giving this delicacy to the public for free throughout the fasting month.
And the tradition continues despite the ongoing Movement Control Order (MCO).
However, this time around the bubur lambuk will only be distributed to the personnel and frontliners in the Kinta district.
Masjid India Muslim chairman Shaikh Mujibur Rahman Mohd Yusoff said this was one way to show appreciation to the the frontliners who had been busy manning the streets and treating patients.
"We start cooking the porridge at 8am and it takes about three to four hours to complete. Every day, a total of 250 packs of bubur lambuk are distributed to our frontliners between 3pm and 4pm.
"This is the least we can do to help our frontliners. We can't distribute to the members of the public due to MCO," he said, adding that two cauldrons were used to cook the much sought-after rice porridge during the fasting month.

Shaikh Mujibur said in the previous years, the mosque would distribute about 500 packs of bubur lambuk to the people and between six to eight cauldrons would be used to cook the dish.
"This Ramadan is totally different for all of us. This is the 'new normal' that we need to adapt to.
"We have received the green light from the Perak Islamic Religious Department to cook the porridge at the mosque. We have started distributing the porridge since the first day of Ramadan," he said.
On the speciality of the bubur lambuk, he said the porridge was cooked by fellow mosque's committee member Mohd Ismail Miran, 40, from Penang, and up to 30 ingredients and spices were used in preparing the tasty dish.
