M'sia-China Higher Education virtual promotions to encourage more Chinese students in M'sian varsities

KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Section of the Malaysian Embassy in Beijing together with the Beijing Overseas-Study Service Association has organised the inaugural and largest Malaysia-China Higher Education virtual promotion.

The promotion, which was conducted virtually from July 6-8, is to encourage more students from China to pursue their higher education in Malaysia. The event focused on certain target groups.

According to Malaysia's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to People' Republic of China, Raja Datuk Nushirwan Zainal Abidin, through education, the recruitment of Chinese students into Malaysian universities will be a contributing factor in strengthening Malaysia-China ties.

"Malaysia welcomes more Chinese students to choose Malaysia as a choice of destination and to acquire affordable quality education.

"I am confident that the experience of studying in Malaysia will enhance mutual understanding and appreciation of the strong Malaysia and China bilateral and people-to-people relations," he said in a statement today.

The first ever mass virtual gathering of Malaysia's public and private higher education institutions included over 17 participating universities, which were represented by their respective International Offices.

The representatives will also be presenting the university's background, outstanding qualities and explain their respective application processes.

The universities involved are Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Universiti Tun Hussien Onn Malaysia (UTHM), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Universiti Utara Malaysia, Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Multimedia University (MMU), Sunway University, Cyberjaya University College of Medical Science, Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU), Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARUC), Raffles University Iskandar, Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus, University College of Yayasan Pahang (UCYP) and UOW Malaysia KDU.

"We hope through this event, our Malaysian education institutions will be able to increase their profile in the highly competitive international student market in China," he said.
