KUALA LUMPUR: The Al Jannah surau in Section 23, Shah Alam, has been closed temporarily after one of its congregation members was found to be a close contact of a Covid-19 positive individual linked to the Sivagangga cluster.
The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) in a statement today said following the revelation, the operation of the surau which is located at No.2, Jalan Komoditi, 23/9, it has directed the committee of the surau to cases all activities and operations.
The department said the activities include Friday prayers, the daily five daily congregational prayers and other religious activities.
"Only three members of the committee who are on duty are allowed to lead the five daily prayers at the Surau, said JAIS in a statement.
"The Al-Jannah Integrated Al-Kafa should also be closed effective immediately," JAIS said in a statement today.
The Surau Committee was directed to ensure the individual concerned to undergo Covid-19 testing and the outcome of the test was conveyed to Jais.
The department also directed to sanitise the Surau and the Kafa school.
The Surau Committee was also directed to monitor the situation and to remind members of the congregation and the Muslim community to ensure they take the necessary preventive steps.
"The Surau concerned would only allowed to operate when the department gives the permission," JAIS said.
