SLIM RIVER: Perak Mufti Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria was rushed to a private hospital in Ipoh this morning, after he suffered a stroke.
State Islamic Religious and Information committee chairman Mohd Akmal Kamarudin who confirmed the matter, said Harussani was taken to the hospital after Subuh prayer.
"I urge everyone to pray for his wellbeing. I hope he will recover soon as the state still needs his service," he added.
Mohd Akmal said that Harussani is still being closely monitored at the hospital.
Harrusani, 81, was appointed as Perak Mufti in 1985 and also holds several positions at the state and federal level.
Among his positions are the chairman of the Censorship of Islamic Publications committee, Al-Quran Text Board deputy chairman, member of the National Fatwa Council and Perak Syariah Committee chairman.
