KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,000 staff members from the Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) received their first vaccination dose through its Trak Vaksin Bergerak MyMedic@Wilayah programme here today.
The initiative by the Federal Territories Ministry, was held at Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station (KL Sentral) involving two mobile vaccine trucks from Optimax Holdings Bhd.
In a statement today, MRCB said both trucks provided the same facility as a vaccination centre, and it was possible to vaccinate eight people at a time.
MRCB vice executive president Datuk Dell Akbar Khan said 1,200 of the organisation's staff had already registered for the vaccine through MySejahtera, but were still waiting for their appointments.
He said with the mobile vaccination truck for MRCB staff, it would speed up the inoculation among staff and decrease the risk of Covid-19 being spread at construction sites.
"MRCB always emphasises the safety and welfare of its staff. This initiative is also timely as the number of Covid-19 cases is still high. It has become a desperate need to ensure employees are protected.
"By ensuring that the majority of MRCB employees are vaccinated as soon as possible, we are able to resume operations at the construction site at an optimum level," he said.
Dell added that MRCB fully supported the government's Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP) to achieve herd immunity, and encouraged its staff to register for the vaccine.
"We highly appreciate the proactive efforts and cooperation from the Federal Territories Ministry, the Health Ministry and the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry in the NIP.
"We would also like to express our gratitude to Optimax, Poliklinik Sentral and the staff of KL Sentrel who also played an important role in the success of our programme."
