GUA MUSANG: Orang Asli villagers yesterday discovered several fresh tiger tracks in Kampung Remau, here.
The latest discovery was the second incident after a tiger was sighted in the village last month.
Pos Bihai Orang Asli Village Security Development committee secretary Pelinejon Assut said the tiger tracks were found near a kongsi (workers' quarters), which belonged to loggers.
"The tiger tracks were spotted by a few Orang Asli men at about 3pm. They then alerted the relevant authorities," he said
Pelinejon also said the 17 Orang Asli families from three villages near Pos Bihai who have been evacuated following tiger threats since December, remained at temporarily shelters.
He said the Orang Asli are from Kampung Bujuk, Kampung Suma and Kampung Remau and they were all relocated to Kampung Tendrik.
"We are hoping that the tiger issue will be resolved as soon as possible so that we can resume our daily activities," he added.
Several reports on tiger sightings were recorded near Orang Asli settlements in the district since December last year. The reports included two tigers that were spotted outside the fence of SK Balar.
Following this, the General Operations Force (GOF) Senoi Praaq team was deployed to Gua Musang to help track down the tigers.
The additional manpower is deemed necessary to aid the authorities to track down the tigers in the Orang Asli settlements, especially in Pos Bihai.
