Bahasa Melayu written test second session questions not same as first

KUALA LUMPUR: Social media was abuzz on the possibility of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Bahasa Melayu written test papers being "recycled" for the second session today.

It became a topic of discussion as Bahasa Melayu (Listening) examination for the first session and the second session was the same, although it was conducted several months apart.

A repeat of the incident would see the Education Ministry to be bombarded by parents and students again.

Fortunately, it was confirmed that the question papers today were different from the earlier session.

One of the SPM 2021 second session candidates from SM Sains Teluk Intan, Muhammad Hariz Hakim confirmed this to New Straits Times.

He said he expected the question for examination today would not be the same as the one in the previous session.

"I was not surprised that it was different because it would be unfair to those who took the paper during the first session.

"Also, I do not like to take a risk on things that are not certain, so I would rather study harder to ensure that I am ready to answer the paper and not regret it later," he said when contacted via Twitter direct message today.

The first session of SPM 2021 was conducted between Feb 8 and March 29, however, a significant number of the candidates were tested positive with Covid-19 and was put under quarantine orders.

Others were affected by the massive flood.

The ministry had said that the second session of the examination was to cater for those who missed the original tests.

The second session of SPM 2021 examination began on April 5 and will end on May 19.

It was reported on March 7 that the Bahasa Melayu (Listening) test was the same as the first SPM session, triggering anger amongst the candidates from the first session.

The ministry is awaiting for detailed report on the matter.
