KUANTAN: People in Pahang who are planning a trip to Cameron Highlands can only travel to the hill station through Perak.
This is following the closure of the Pos Betau and Lembah Bertam stretch which connects Sungai Koyan in Lipis and Ringlet in Cameron Highlands yesterday.
Tanah Rata assemblyman Chiong Yoke Kong said the stretch will be closed for a month to allow the Public Works Department (PWD) to carry out repair works.
"Some parts of the stretch sank forcing PWD to close the road to all vehicles. The repair works are expected to be completed by the end of this month and will be opened once declared safe.
"Those from Pahang planning to travel to Cameron Highlands can go to Lipis before using Jalan Gua Musang towards Lojing, Blue Valley, Kampung Raja and Tanah Rata. However, they might need to monitor the traffic congestion during the festive holidays," he said when contacted.

Meanwhile, a PWD spokesman said the stretch was closed at 3pm yesterday and motorists planning to travel to Cameron Highlands can use alternative routes from Simpang Pulai, Tapah to Ringlet or the Gua Musang-Lojing road.
In a statement, PWD said the stretch between Section 18.650-19.650, Jalan Pos Betau-Lembah Bertam will be closed between April 30 and May 30 after the road collapsed at Section 19.150.
The Sungai Koyan-Ringlet stretch has been a popular route for those travelling from Pahang towards Cameron Highlands and the northern states.
Some who had planned to travel to Cameron Highlands for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays and use the Sungai Koyan stretch to return to their hometowns for the festive season voiced their concern on social media.
They said they might be forced to spend longer hours on the road through the North-South Expressway.
