Floods upend lives of almost 200 Port Klang residents

KUALA LUMPUR: At least 40 houses were hit by flash floods in Port Klang this morning.

Port Klang Fire and Rescue Department deputy chief Razif Mohammad Haris estimated between 150 and 200 residents were affected by the floods.

He said the department also monitored flood hotspots, adding that evacuation protocol was yet to be activated as things were under control.

Kampung Delek and Kampung Sungai Sireh are among the inundated localities.

"We noticed that the water began to rise about 7.20am and receded at 7.35am. We also saw a 30 per cent drop in the high tide phenomenon.

"So far, the overall situation is under control. We have yet to receive any (distress) call," he said.

Meanwhile, Klang district officer Shahman Jalaludin was at the scene to monitor the situation.
