PAPAR: Train services between Kota Kinabalu and Beaufort here have been affected after a landslide blocked the track at the Papar tunnel here.
Sabah Railway Department (JKNS) in a posting on its Facebook account said five scheduled train services have been cancelled.
The routes are Beaufort and Sembulan for the 5am, 7am and 11am scheduled service. The same for the return trips for Tanjung Aru and Kinarut scheduled trips at 1.40pm and 4.40pm.
Papar district police deputy superintendent Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka meanwhile said the landslide occurred about 7.30pm yesterday.
He added a train was stuck and JKNS had deployed another train to pull it out. There were no casualties reported.
Meanwhile, the number of flood evacuees in Sabah increased to 142 from less than 100 yesterday after Papar and Beaufort districts were inundated.
As of 8am, 20 people from Penampang are still seeking shelter at Penampang Cultural Hall; 61 from Putatan at PPR Sri Keramat Hall; 10 from Papar at OKU Training and Rehabilitation Complex; and 51 from Beaufort at DSP Mohd Dun Banir Hall.
