Be ready for disaster, PM tells all agencies, disaster management committee

BERA: Caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob have instructed all agencies related to disaster and security as well as state and district Disaster Management Committees prepare for floods.

"Instructions have been issued to the agencies involved including the police and fire brigade, even all state and district disaster management committees have been activated.

"For example, what happened in the Shah Alam area, Selangor... I'm worried about the same thing happening again like in (Taman) Sri Muda (flood incident before).

"I hope the state and district disaster management agencies and committees are ready," he told reporters at the keluarga Malaysia unity programme in Daratan Kerayong here today. Also present was caretaker National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohammed Sadique.

Several areas in Klang Valley and Selangor,Melaka, Kelantan and Johor flooded last night following continous heavy rain.

On the Semarak Uniti Keluarga Malaysia programme, Ismail Sabri said the programme is one the government's efforts to apply the value of unity among the community in line with the concept of the Malaysian Family.

He said all the activities organised at the programme involving various layers of society of multiple races and ages not only nourish the unity of each member of Keluarga Malaysia, but also showcase the cultural diversity in Malaysia.
