Eight BN, two PH reps sworn in as Pahang exco members

PEKAN: Ten Pahang elected representatives including two from Pakatan Harapan (PH) were today sworn in as state executive council members at Balairung Seri Istana Abu Bakar here.

All the assemblymen received their letters of appointment and were sworn in before the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah in a ceremony which began at 3.05pm.

The 10-member state exco line-up in the first unity government between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) in Pahang, consists of eight assemblymen from Umno, one each from DAP and PKR respectively.

The BN members are six-term Benta assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohd Soffi Abdul Razak, Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad(Umno-Kerdau) and Datuk Mohammad Fakhruddin Mohd. Ariff (Umno-Bebar).

The new faces are former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's eldest son, Datuk Nizar Mohd Najib (Umno-Peramu), Datuk Seri Johari Harun (Umno-Pelangai), Datuk Sabariah Saidan (Umno-Guai), Ir. Razali Kassim (Umno-Muadzam Shah) and Fadzli Mohamad Kamal (Umno-Dong).

Meanwhile, the two PH members are Triang's three-term assemblyman Leong Yu Man from DAP along with three-term Teruntum assemblyman Sim Chong Siang from PKR.

It is learnt that the portfolios of each member will be decided after the first exco meeting.

Present during the ceremony today were recently sworn in Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, State Secretary Datuk Seri Dr Sallehuddin Ishak and State Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Ishak Muhammad along with other BN elected representatives.

Others present were Pahang PH chairman Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who is also the Selangor Menteri Besar, along with PH assemblymen.

On Nov 28, Wan Rosdy was sworn in to lead a new pact between BN and PH and for the first time, he will head a state government comprising BN and PH after Pahang ended up with a hung state assembly following the GE15 outcome for the east coast state.

In GE15, BN only secured 16 seats, while Perikatan Nasional PN won 17. PH has eight seats.
