HULU SELANGOR: Security forces and personnel involved in the landslide search-and-rescue (SAR) operation at Father's Organic Farm in Batang Kali and members of the public have been told not to share pictures and videos of victims.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent Suffian Abdullah said individuals who spread pictures and videos related to the incident face legal action under the Multimedia and Communications Act 1998 and the Penal Code.
He said this was to protect the victims and their families and to give them privacy during trying times.
"Those involved in the SAR operation must act and behave accordingly and responsibly by not recording videos or taking pictures of victims and sharing them.
"We must accord respect and courtesy to victims and their families who are still traumatised by the tragedy," he said at a press conference today.
The landslide left 24 people dead. Nine victims are still missing after 61 people were rescued.
