Man who braced through flood waters ends up in culvert

PENAMPANG: A four-wheel drive vehicle was found in a culvert in Donggongon Town here, after being swept away by strong flood currents.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Haris Ibrahim said he received a police report from the owner of the vehicle.

The investigation found that the owner of the vehicle was passing through the flooded area.

"The condition of the flooded road made it difficult for the victim (to drive through) and had caused the vehicle to end up in the culvert.

"However, the victim managed to save himself," he said when contacted, today.

Mohd Haris said the effort to remove the vehicle will be done by the owner.

Earlier, several photos were circulated on social media showing the vehicle lying in a culvert, on the road leading to Sigah Roundabout, here, this morning.

The flood that occurred on Monday caused several areas and villages around Penampang to be affected.

Among the affected areas were Penampang Proper, Jalan Kasigui, Kampung Kolopis, Jalan Kibabaig, Jalan Kiranau and Kampung Dabak.
