KUALA KRAI: Visitors looking for lemang here know just where to go to get their supply of the delicacy.
They head to "Kampung Lemang", which has been in the business since the 1970s.
The village, where a majority of its women folk are involved in the lemang business, was initially called Kampung Lepan Jenut.
However, when the lemang business began to gain popularity in 2018, the residents decided to change the village's name.
One of the lemang sellers, Rahimah Ismail, said the villagers chose Kampung Lemang as the new name for the village to make it easy for outsiders to remember.
"Before this, many of our customers could not remember the name of the village because the name is unique.
"But when we changed the name to Kampung Lemang, our customers from outside Kelantan loved it," she said.
The mother of two ventured into the business about 25 years ago.
Another seller, Wan Morasyikin Abdul Wahab, 26, said for a new trader like her, she did not mind the name.
"I just ventured in the business about four years ago and did not know that the Kampung Lepan Jenut's name has existed.
"All this while, l have been promoting Kampung Lemang on my Facebook," she said.
More than 30 stalls selling lemang could be spotted at Kampung Lemang, which is located along Jalan Kuala Krai-Gua Musang.
Traders sell the lemang between RM12 and RM15 for three bamboo sticks depending on their sizes.
The traders operate their business everyday between 9am and 10pm.
