McDonald's Malaysia opens nominations for 7th annual Anugerah Guru Inspirasi

NOMINATIONS for the seventh annual Anugerah Guru Inspirasi McDonald's, are open until April 15, 2023, and students can show their appreciation by sharing inspirational stories of how their teachers have positively impacted them.

The award is organised by McDonald's Malaysia in collaboration with the Education Ministry to recognise and appreciate teachers who go the extra mile to help students achieve academic excellence and help to shape the future leaders of Malaysia.

Twenty-five selected teachers will each win RM5,000 in cash vouchers and walk home with a trophy and certificate, as well as a RM5,000 allocation to upgrade their school's staff room.

Nominators will receive a National Level Participation Certificate, which contributes to their Physical, Sports and Co-Curricular Assessment (PAJSK) marks in school.

This year, McDonald's will also be inviting selected teachers across the country to participate in the Teachers' Day celebration at all McDonald's outlets from May 1-31 to celebrate teachers for their contributions in educating the younger generation.

According to McDonald's Malaysia managing director and local operating partner Datuk Azmir Jaafar, the Anugerah Guru Inspirasi McDonald's was introduced seven years ago to give recognition to teachers across the nation.

"McDonald's has always been appreciative of the countless contributions from our teachers, who have made selfless sacrifices for the development and nurturing, as well as the positive impact provided to children in the aspects of academic, co-curriculum and character building," he said.

The popular annual event has successfully attracted a large number of nominations every year. The 2022 edition received more than 30,000 nominations, and 131 inspirational teachers have been awarded since 2017.

Award recipients are chosen through a meticulous process by a panel of judges consisting of representatives from McDonald's Malaysia, the Education Ministry and members of the media.
