Bangladeshi worker dies after falling into Nenggiri River

GUA MUSANG: A Bangladeshi worker died on Saturday in a workplace accident after falling into the Nenggiri River and drowning while repairing plumbing at the Nenggiri hydro project in Kampung Star.

Gua Musang police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the incident occurred around noon and the 35-year-old worker was alone at the time.

"The police suspect that the victim, Md Kashem Sikdar, was climbing the iron pipe when he lost his balance and fell into the river.

"A police team was deployed to the scene to locate the body," he said in a statement.

Sik said the body was discovered about half an hour later and was sent to Gua Musang hospital for post-mortem

"Police have ruled out foul play and classified the case as sudden death," he added.
