MUAR: The body of a 77-year-old man, who fell off the Sultan Ismail Muar bridge here on Tuesday, was found today following a 24-hour search and rescue operation.
Muar Fire and Rescue Department received the distress call on Tuesday about 6am, and a team of rescuers were despatched to Muar river to conduct the SAR operations.
The department's operation commander Shahrizal Mokhtar said two boats were used in the operation covering 16km of the river's marina jetty area and 10km of the Dataran Tanjung Mas riverbanks in their land search, hoping to spot the victim. However, the victim was not found.
The operation was rescheduled again at 6am today and the victim's body was found at about 10am in the vicinity of the Istana Tanjung district office.
Shahrizal said the body was found about one kilometre from the location where he fell off.
His body was handed over to the police for follow up investigations.
